Pancake Tuesday. The day before the great fast! Why not come to Mass and then pop into the hall for a cuppa a chat and – of course - a pancake!

Justice & Peace formation. Our team has organised 4 seminars – Catholic Social Teaching and real live issues. This, the last, is on tackling dehumanising poverty’. Come and take part with Dr Mary Cullen & Dr Duncan McLaren. Since its the last and is Pancake Tuesday we’re having some cheese and wine!

Ash Wednesday. Lent means ‘springtime’! This is not only a period of penance – it is a pilgrimage towards the Triduum. Today we impose ashes on us but we will end when we gather at the Easter fire!

Day of sorrow and shame for the horror of sexual abuse by clergy and within the life of our church. This first Friday of lent we beg healing for victims and forgiveness for this great stain. Stations of the Cross in the church at 7pm

RCIA Retreat day. Our 11 friends who are joining the church at Easter will be at day-retreat today. Lent is an intense time for them as they draw close to Jesus. Lets pray for them – and for each other!

Safeguarding statement. Each year we take the opportunity to make the congregation aware of our safeguarding policy. Pauline – our safeguarding co-ordinator - will present the statement at all the Masses this weekend.

Lent Sunday 1 On this first Sunday of Lent we hear about Jesus being drawn into the desert. In his long fast he is tempted by Satan in different ways to power and vanity. However, the fundamental temptation is to pretend you are something you are not – the temptation to deny your very self.
