Feast of St John Ogilvie. Scotland’s only Reformation period saint. From the North East, he studied on the continent and came back to Scotland to rekindle faith. He was caught and tried for treason and executed at Glasgow Cross in 1615.

Feast of Saint Kessog. An early Celtic monk, connected to Columba and Iona. Kessog spread the gospel the length and breath of the land (The Kessog Bridge in Inverness honours him as does Keswick in the lake district!) Third Sunday Lent (A). The woman at the well. One of the huge encounters where Jesus meets a woman outcast by her own community and also a foreigner before Jesus. Yet he engages her and leads her to a deeper sense of herself – and brings her forgiving peace.
